Greens has been working with Eton College for several years, regularly producing catalogues, flyers, and exhibition materials. For their latest Elemental exhibition at the Verey Gallery, we delivered another successful project that combined traditional craftsmanship with creative problem-solving.

The client: Eton College

Eton College is one of the UK's most prestigious educational institutions, with a rich history spanning nearly 600 years. Their Verey Gallery regularly hosts exhibitions that showcase remarkable historical artefacts and thought-provoking themes.

The challenge

The Elemental exhibition at the Verey Gallery presented a unique printing challenge. The exhibition explored humanity's relationship with the four classical elements - earth, water, air, and fire - through extraordinary artefacts spanning from 3,500 BCE Stone Age tools to books from 500 CE.

Ann-Louise, Eton College's designer, needed print materials that would:

  • Complement the exhibition's diverse historical artefacts
  • Create clear visual separation between the four elemental themes
  • Stand out with distinctive, memorable design
  • Meet tight production deadlines

Our solution

Working closely with Ann-Louise, we developed a distinctive catalogue design alongside comprehensive exhibition materials.

Screw bound catalogues: We created a screw bound catalogue with thick coloured Papago sheets separating each elemental section.

This approach delivered multiple benefits:

  • Clear visual division matching the exhibition's four themes
  • A classic, eye-catching binding that distinguished the catalogue from typical publications
  • Practical durability for a keepsake publication
  • On-time delivery within the project timeframe
  • Complete print suite:

Beyond the catalogues, we also produced:

  • A2 zine leaflets
  • Foamex display panels
  • Vinyl wall and floor graphics

Each element worked together to create an immersive exhibition experience that did justice to the remarkable artefacts on display.

"The screw bound catalogue was an interesting challenge," says John Henderson, Account Manager at Greens. "We worked closely with Ann-Louise throughout the process to create a catalogue that's both visually striking and perfectly suited to the exhibition's themes."

The partnership

Our relationship with Eton College began when Ann-Louise joined the college's design team and was looking for a print supplier who could bring fresh thinking and reliable execution to their projects. Since then, we've worked together on numerous catalogues, flyers, and exhibition materials.

This was our second exhibition partnership with the Verey Gallery, and we're proud to support an institution that values both historical preservation and innovative presentation.

The result

The Elemental exhibition opened to great acclaim, with an evening speech by Sir Nicholas Coleridge CBE DL. The print materials helped visitors navigate an extraordinary collection that spanned millennia - from ancient Stone Age tools to medieval manuscripts.

"The exhibition itself was fascinating," adds Henderson. "Seeing books from 500 CE and Stone Age tools from 3,500 BCE alongside our print work was incredible. This was a very interesting project for Greens to work on and deliver beautiful print to an esteemed institution we are lucky to call one of our clients."
